The Orchestra’s Conductor Competition was founded by conductor Cristian Oroșanu and is developed in collaboration with a different host orchestra for each edition.
Its central idea is simple: the musicians who work directly with the competing conductors should have a decisive voice in choosing the winners.
Cristian Oroșanu is a conductor and educator whose work has gradually expanded beyond the concert stage towards creating independent artistic environments where performance, education and new ideas can develop with complete freedom.
The competition reflects his belief that musicians should play an active role in recognising the conductors with whom they most naturally become an orchestra. By placing the musicians at the centre of the evaluation process, it explores a different model of artistic leadership built on trust, dialogue and shared responsibility.
The masterclass extends the same philosophy into a pedagogical environment where conductors develop through direct work with the ensemble and personal feedback. Together, these initiatives form part of a broader vision for the long-term development of conductors, orchestras and institutions.
Kamerata Kronstadt is a project-based chamber ensemble bringing together musicians for different artistic programmes. Rather than maintaining a fixed formation, the ensemble develops through the needs of each concert, the repertoire and the musicians involved.
Founded in Brașov by conductor Cristian Oroșanu, Kamerata Kronstadt has developed an active concert presence in Romania, performing at major festivals and cultural events including the George Enescu International Festival, SoNoRo, Classics for Pleasure, the Mozart Festival, Musica Barcensis and Musica Coronensis.
The ensemble has collaborated with leading Romanian and international soloists, including Liviu Prunaru, Gabriel Croitoru, Alexandru Tomescu, Răzvan Stoica, Horia Mihail, Răzvan Suma, Răzvan Popovici, Leontina Văduva and others.
Its programmes range from the classical chamber repertoire to projects involving tango, jazz and traditional music, reflecting the ensemble’s openness to different musical contexts and collaborations.
Kamerata Kronstadt also develops educational and social initiatives in Brașov, including concerts for young audiences and charitable projects.
